Hello and welcome to my site...
I'm Charlotte, an experienced therapist offering sessions face:face in Stockport town centre or remotely via telephone or video call.
I hope the content of my website will provide you with information to help determine if the therapy I offer can help you but please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or want to discuss this further in a free 10 minute telephone consultation.
I realise it can be daunting reaching out for support but people often tell me how relieved they started to feel once they had taken that first step and made contact with me.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Have you been feeling
stressed or overwhelmed?
Perhaps you feel like everything is an effort or have been struggling with anxiety, phobias or panic attacks?
Do you want to feel better about yourself and more confident?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an effective therapy to help with issues such as these and is the recommended treatment for a number of emotional difficulties.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Have you experienced something that you are struggling to process?
Perhaps you have noticed the need to avoid certain 'triggers' to an upsetting memory and it is starting to impact your life?
You might be experiencing bad dreams about an incident and finding yourself replaying events in your mind.
Trauma-focused CBT is an evidence-based therapy helpful in addressing difficulties such as these.
Psychosexual/ 'sex' Therapy
Sexual dysfunctions are more common than people often think and can be experienced by both men and women.
Erectile dysfunction is most often the sexual difficulty people have heard of however there are many other difficulties people can experience.
Psychosexual therapy or 'sex therapy', as it is often known as, helps people establish and recognise the underlying causes of and contributing factors to, their sexual difficulties.
The therapy supports people in effectively addressing their difficulties with the ultimate aim of improving their relationship with sex.
Sex Addiction Counselling
Do you feel your sexual behaviour is out of control or you are worried about how often you are viewing porn?
Perhaps you have noticed certain sexual activities have been interfering with other areas of your life?
Maybe you have noticed an escalation in certain behaviours you engage in?
Don't feel you have to deal with this alone, non-judgmental and confidential counselling can help support you in addressing these difficulties and help you regain a sense of being back in control of your life.
It is not uncommon for people to find the prospect of therapy daunting and to have certain ideas or images about what to expect from a therapy session.
When you enter my therapy room you aren't expected to lead the conversation and fill the silence and you certainly won't be expected to lie on a couch whilst I psychoanalyse you!
Instead, my focus is putting you at ease, guiding the conversation and managing your expectations for therapy whilst emphasising my non-judgmental, genuine and approachable nature.
Within my approach to therapy, I place emphasis on the benefit of collaboration i.e. it is about us working together - getting a shared understanding of your difficulties and deciding how best to address them in a way that is manageable to you.
I am by no means overly formal within my approach and clients often report finding it reassuring and beneficial that I am professional yet down-to-earth and genuine.
I am a fully qualified and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist undertaking further training in Sex Addiction Therapy and Psychosexual Therapy.
I love my work and I am passionate about helping people overcome their difficulties, increase their confidence and ultimately improve their wellbeing.
Originally working within the mental health field of the NHS I now run my own private practice accepting referrals from individuals, insurers, organisations, medico-legal companies and EAPs
